Material guide
Our materials
The same artwork can feel entirely different depending on the material. Explore the differences between poster, canvas, acrylic glass and aluminium Dibond to find the finish that suits your artwork and interior.
The material makes the difference
An artwork is more than the image you choose. The material it is produced on shapes how it looks and feels on the wall.
Are you looking for a light, calm look? A warm, tactile texture? Depth and vivid colours? Or a clean, modern finish?
At XL Kunst you can choose from four materials: poster, canvas, acrylic glass and aluminium Dibond. Each has its own character.

01
Poster
Clear, refined and versatile.
A poster keeps the focus entirely on the artwork. Without a heavy structure or prominent texture, colour, detail and composition take centre stage.
XL Kunst posters are produced on high-quality art paper suited to sharp, carefully finished photography, illustrations, graphic art and classic works.
Its understated appearance is versatile. It feels calm in a minimalist interior and lets colourful art stand out.
A poster is also a good choice if you like changing your art or want to choose how to display it yourself.

02
Canvas
Warm, tactile and timeless.
Canvas gives an artwork the warmth of a painting. Its fine weave remains visible and softens the light, giving colours a natural, calm appearance.
The canvas is stretched tightly over a wooden frame. The print continues around the edges, so it looks complete from the side and can be hung without an additional frame.
Canvas fits in almost any room: a cosy living room, a bedroom or above the dining table. It feels familiar and stays beautiful for years.

03
Acrylic glass
Depth, shine and vivid colour.
With acrylic glass, the artwork is placed behind a 5 mm sheet of plexiglass. Light passes through the glass to the print, making colours appear deeper and more vibrant.
The result feels modern and luxurious. Photography and colourful, high-contrast artwork look particularly striking.
Consider where you hang it: the glossy surface can reflect light. Avoid placing it directly opposite a large window if reflections concern you.

04
Aluminium Dibond
Clean, sturdy and modern.
Aluminium Dibond is a rigid composite panel with two thin aluminium layers around a plastic core. The image is printed directly onto the panel, producing a matte finish without distracting reflections.
Dibond has no edge frame: the image runs right to the edge. A mounting system at the back makes the work appear to float a few centimetres from the wall.
The panel stays flat even at large sizes and is resistant to moisture. That also makes it suitable for kitchens and bathrooms.
